A lifecycle phase model of agile transformation, with the barriers and threats organisations encounter. Use it to anticipate stages and risks in an agile change programme.

My role: first and corresponding author. Led research design, interviews, the two-step inductive coding, the phase model and the threat taxonomy.

Study

An exploratory multiple case study across six organisations, based on 33 interviews with 39 participants.

Why it matters in practice

Agile transformations move through predictable phases with known risks. Naming them early makes them easier to plan for.
