Process modelling with BPMN. FeedForward grew out of this course; the BPMN LLM judges project is related.

Role
Course leader
Format
English-language course, BPMN process modelling

CompetenceModelling business processes and judging the quality of process models.

Course

A Bachelor’s course taught in English on information systems and business process management. Since Winter 2025/26 it uses a case-based format with a fictional company. I have been course leader since Winter 2024/25.

The FeedForward project grew out of this course. It asks the same question as the course: how do you judge the quality of a process model, and how do you know the judgement is right?

  • BPMN LLM judges: LLM judges annotate process models, and their labels are validated against human expert ratings before use.
  • FeedForward: LLM-assisted formative feedback in the course, with the instructor approving every finding before it reaches a student.

Transfer

Judging a process model is a skill that carries over to process work in organisations. The same discipline applies to machines: an automated judgement is only useful once its agreement with human experts has been measured.
